Unlock Automatic Travel Insurance with Your Visa Premium Card

Traveling should be about excitement and exploration, not worry. Did you know that your Visa premium card could automatically include travel insurance? This convenient perk can offer peace of mind on your journeys, provided you meet certain conditions when booking your travel arrangements. Let’s explore how to activate this automatic travel insurance and what it covers.

Automatic Coverage for International Trips

For international adventures, your Visa Travel Insurance kicks in automatically if you take specific steps before your departure. To be eligible for coverage, ensure you’ve used your premium Visa card to pay for your travel arrangements. Specifically, the insurance activates if you’ve paid for:

  • Round-trip tickets using your premium Visa card.
  • Accommodation booked and paid with your premium Visa card prior to your trip commencing.
  • Both round-trip tickets and accommodation using your premium Visa card before your journey begins.

Travel Insurance for Temporary Residents Abroad

If you are residing in a country temporarily and traveling to another nation outside your country of temporary residence, your Visa premium card can still provide automatic travel insurance. The activation conditions are slightly different and cater to those with temporary protection status. In this case, your insurance starts automatically if you:

  • Possess documents confirming refugee status or temporary protection in your country of temporary residence.
  • Paid for round-trip tickets originating from your country of permanent residence using your premium Visa card.
  • Paid for accommodation with your premium Visa card, AND hold tickets from your country of permanent residence and back, regardless of payment method for these tickets.
  • Paid for a complete tour package.

It’s important to note that the travel insurance service for individuals temporarily residing abroad is currently valid until May 31, 2024. Be sure to check for updated terms and validity periods beyond this date with your Visa provider.

Activating Insurance for Domestic Travel

Even when traveling within your country of permanent residence*, your Visa premium card can offer automatic travel insurance benefits. For domestic trips, the insurance is activated when you:

  • Pre-booked accommodation for a minimum of 2 nights, located at least 100 km from your home, using your premium Visa card.

Key Requirement: To ensure your travel insurance is activated, remember that the payments for transportation and/or accommodation must be made using your Visa premium card. The name on your card must match the name on your travel tickets and/or the accommodation booking for the insurance to be valid.

*This also applies to countries of temporary residence for Ukrainians who are temporarily living abroad.

In conclusion, leveraging your Visa premium card for booking travel can unlock valuable automatic travel insurance. Always verify the specific terms and conditions associated with your card and travel plans to ensure you are fully covered and can travel with confidence.
