Pulling into Road Runner Travel Resort, the initial impression was far from welcoming. The resort was packed, and immediately, a sense of disorganization prevailed. There was no clear reception or guidance for new arrivals, leaving guests to fend for themselves in locating the office. This immediately set a negative tone for what was to be an overnight stay.
Upon eventually finding what was assumed to be the office within a restaurant/bar area, the check-in process did little to improve the situation. The staff member encountered seemed ill-equipped to handle even basic inquiries. Questions about site location and specifics were met with confusion and uncertainty. Simple requests, such as confirming if a site was pull-through, were met with blank stares and unhelpful guesses. This lack of knowledge and training was concerning, particularly for a resort catering to travelers who often require clear and concise information upon arrival.
The problems extended beyond just check-in. After finally being assigned a site – after some initial confusion and incorrect directions – it was discovered to be occupied by multiple vehicles. These vehicles, including a service van, were apparently using the campsite as overflow parking for the restaurant. This required further trips back to the poorly marked “office” and intervention from staff to clear the paid campsite. Even after the vehicles were moved, the site itself proved to be inadequate, barely accommodating the RV and forcing a less-than-ideal parking arrangement that encroached on neighboring spaces.
