Monterey, California, with its cool and quaint charms, is a place I, like many others, have completely fallen for. Located on the central coast of California, about 120 miles south of San Francisco, Monterey offers a captivating blend of rugged coastal cliffs, Pacific Ocean views, a laid-back vibe, and intriguing historic buildings.
Summer in Monterey is mild and generally sunny, though not exceptionally hot, with occasional fog. July brings a lively atmosphere with the 4th of July Parade and Celebrations, including live music and family activities, as well as the Portuguese festival, Festa do Divino Espírito Santo. For a coastal city escape with history and marine life, Monterey is one of the best places to travel in July in the USA.
During a Pacific Coast Highway road trip stop, I explored the famous Cannery Row, now filled with restaurants, shops, and galleries. I spotted humpback whales on a whale-watching tour, hiked trails in Point Lobos State Natural Reserve, discovered historic buildings in Monterey State Historic Park, and went snorkeling in the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary.

July in Marquette features warm and pleasant temperatures, with sunshine and mostly dry days, perfect for outdoor activities.
