Are you a dynamic dancer or cheerleader looking to elevate your college experience? The Saint Mary’s College Spirit Team offers an incredible opportunity to perform, build camaraderie, and travel! Tryouts for the 2024/25 season are approaching, and we’re seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our energetic squad.
What is the Spirit Team?
The SMC Spirit Team is more than just a performance group; we are the embodiment of school spirit at Saint Mary’s College. We ignite the atmosphere at Men’s and Women’s Basketball games with high-energy routines, sideline cheers, and captivating halftime shows. Imagine yourself dancing to the fight song, leading the crowd in cheers, and being a vital part of the game-day excitement.
But the experience extends beyond our campus! The Spirit Team proudly travels with the basketball teams to the prestigious West Coast Conference tournaments and, when the Gaels soar high enough, to the NCAA postseason tournaments. This is your chance to support our athletes on a larger stage and experience the thrill of collegiate sports travel. Beyond athletics, we also perform at various alumni events and campus gatherings, connecting with the broader Saint Mary’s community.
Audition for the 2024/25 Season
If you are a current SMC student in good academic standing or an incoming first-year student, we encourage you to audition! Initial auditions for current students are held in the spring, with additional tryouts in the fall for incoming students.
To register for the audition, please complete the application form available HERE by August 31st, 2024, at 8 PM. Once you apply, you will receive a detailed email with all the necessary audition information.
On audition day, remember to bring your student ID and a current photo (headshot preferred) for identification purposes. Don’t worry, the photo is just for us to remember you and will not be used in the judging process! Photos will not be returned.
