Based on our small farm in Rehoboth, MA, each animal is raised with an abundance of love, kindness, and meticulous care. This nurturing environment results in animals with incredibly sweet and friendly temperaments who genuinely enjoy interacting with people. Cleanliness and health are paramount to us. All of our animals receive regular veterinary check-ups, are fully vaccinated, and possess clean health certifications from our state veterinarian, ensuring their well-being and the safety of your guests.
Typically, our traveling petting zoo includes an adorable assortment of animals perfect for gentle interactions. You can expect to meet 2 baby goats or a baby goat and a playful lamb, a delightful group of 3 to 5 baby bunnies with their soft fur, 2 to 3 curious Silkie chickens with their unique fluffy feathers, a charming duck or goose, and one or two impressive Flemish Giant rabbits. The specific animals and their ages may vary slightly depending on the season and availability, but we always ensure we bring the youngest and most sociable animals ready for travel and interaction.
Our Hassle-Free and Adaptable Setup
We strive to make the traveling petting zoo experience as convenient and stress-free as possible for you. Our standard setup involves creating a spacious and secure pen for all the animals to comfortably roam and interact with your guests. The pen is designed with two gates for easy access and is fully handicap accessible, ensuring everyone, including those using wheelchairs or mobility aids, can enter and enjoy the animal encounters without any difficulty.
For space requirements, we typically need an area of approximately 15 feet by 15 feet. While our animals love a pesticide-free grassy area the best, we are adaptable and can set up on various outdoor surfaces such as pavement, mulch, or dirt. However, to ensure hygiene and the well-being of the animals and your guests, we cannot set up on artificial turf (astro-turf) as it is impossible to properly sanitize during and after our visit.
If your event requires an indoor setup, we are happy to accommodate. We can set up directly on indoor flooring, taking meticulous care to keep the area clean throughout our visit. We will also thoroughly Swiffer the area before our departure. If you prefer additional protection for indoor setups on carpeted areas, we request that you provide a 20×20 (or larger) tarp to be laid down prior to our arrival. While hard surface flooring is ideal, we can manage carpeted areas with a provided tarp. When outdoor temperatures rise above 65 degrees Fahrenheit, we prioritize the animals’ comfort and require a semi- to fully shaded area. This could be natural shade, a tent, or a pop-up canopy to ensure they remain cool and comfortable throughout your event. Rain or shine, we are committed to bringing the petting zoo experience! In case of rain or snow, we simply require a covered setup area, such as the shade options mentioned or an alternative indoor space like a garage, basement, or indoor venue.
What to Expect During Your Traveling Petting Zoo Visit
We arrive 20 to 30 minutes before your scheduled start time to efficiently set up the petting zoo enclosure. Once everything is ready, your guests are welcomed to enter the pen and immerse themselves in the joy of petting, gently brushing, and feeding the animals hay (provided by us). A knowledgeable and friendly Animal Affair attendant is always present within the pen to supervise interactions, answer any questions your guests may have about the animals, and share interesting facts and information about each species.
For the safety and well-being of our animals, we have a few policies in place. We do not wrap our animals in blankets or put diapers on them. We believe in allowing animals to relieve themselves naturally and promptly clean any waste to maintain a hygienic environment. For larger events like birthday parties, public events, or gatherings with a high turnover of visitors, holding the animals is not permitted. Holding of certain animals is reserved exclusively for visits to nursing homes, ensuring the animals’ safety and comfort during higher-traffic events.
Cleanliness and Hygiene are Our Priority
We understand the importance of cleanliness, especially when animals are involved. During our traveling petting zoo visits, we diligently and immediately clean up any and all waste produced by the animals. Before we depart, the setup area is thoroughly raked or swept, leaving your space clean and tidy. We take everything with us when we leave, ensuring no extra cleanup for you. To further promote hygiene, we always provide hand sanitizer for your guests to use after interacting with the animals.
